Matt's half marathon walk

By Matt Williams

Chip in to help power Greenpeace campaigns

I've decided to do something I've never done before, a half marathon walk.  It's a hefty distance which I really want to complete in a day and hopefully injury free.  I plan to go along the coast in Southampton and really hope you can sponsor me!

Greenpeace relies on individual people like you and me to fund their work. To protect their independence, they don’t take any money from governments or corporations.

At such a critical time for our planet, Greenpeace needs our support more than ever.

If you've been inspired by this event, donate today to help Greenpeace UK continue to fight the climate and nature emergencies. Together with your support, we can keep fossil fuels in the ground, our forests standing, and our oceans healthy.

Thank you!

My Updates

Mission completed!

Sunday 25th May
Had a lovely walk today. With support on the way from Miriam, Amelie and Lyn. Went from Southampton on to the coast at Woolston, Hamble-le-rice and ferry, Warsash and finishing up at Hill Head. Heard lots of birds on route, the wind and sunshine and the sound of stones underfoot along the final stretch on the beech. Just over 31,000 steps and really enjoyable. Thanks to all the sponsors and to Greenpeace for standing up for us all and supporting the planet. Matt x

City cycle

Saturday 17th May
More training. 10miles today. Not long now till the big day! Enjoy the Sun xx

Short walk at lunch time

Friday 16th May
Hi went for a walk in the glorious sun today down by Itchen river.  Saw lots a geese and Mallard ducks.  Some sort of spat was going on between male and female ducks.  I saw two take off from the water and flew in big arches all over the sky.  Also some cute baby geese.  Sorry no pictures I was going digital free.  Did a leisurely 2.45 miles.  More exercise tomorrow!

On the coast in Warblington Church

Saturday 10th May
Did a 7 mile walk today with a pub stop half way with my family. The shot is from Warblington church next to Warblington Castle that has the claim to fame of being in the film Tommy (The Who).

Swimming

Sunday 4th May
I got up at 7:30am this morning for an early swim at the pool.  Surprising lots of early birds down there.  I managed to do 450meters - not as fit as I used to be.  All helps with the training though

Thank you to my Sponsors
