31 Miles for Nature

I’m moving 31 Miles for Nature to raise £150 for Greenpeace - can you sponsor me?

Our favourite places in nature are under threat from climate change, habitat loss and pollution. We need to act now to save them. That's why I've decided to move 31 Miles for Nature this October and raise £150 for Greenpeace.

With a fifty year history of defending nature, Greenpeace's mission is to create a greener, healthier, and more peaceful planet. Any donation you make could help power their campaigns to keep our oceans healthy, our forests standing, and fossil fuels in the ground.

Greenpeace never accepts money from companies or governments, so they depend on supporters, like us, to fund all of their campaigns.

Please sponsor me today and help me reach my £150 goal. Thank you!

My Updates

Feeling great, but taking care

Tuesday 21st Oct
The good news is I've had no more pain since my mystery leg drama a few weeks ago. I've been increasing training load and duration slowly and progressively, to ensure I DO get stronger and i DON'T re-injure myself. I'm REALLLY taking care of my recovery
:-)
The bad news is that my strength and endurance will have slipped from where it was pre-injury, and in order to ensure a full recovery, I can't rightly commit to doing the big 31mile challenge this weekend as plan-B planned.

I am completely committed to doing the 31 miles still, so all is well in the world of Greenpeace sponsorship [the day challenge was just my own personal take on it]. I'm logging mileage completed on my fundraising page - I have 17 miles to complete in the next 10 days. I'm on it!

I do intend to still complete my 31mile one day challenge... but it's probably going to be in November! I'll keep you posted!
Thanks for all the support and I hope you're enjoying my updates... didn't expect them to be such an emotional rollercoaster!

I got out in The Peak district this weekend and my leg was fine! So glad! Gonna keep up the strict rehab protocol so I continue on this trajectory!

I LOVE being out in nature - nothing heals my soul more.
I love nature, nature loves Greenpeace.
It's a true honour and joy to support both

Life happens...!

Monday 13th Oct
It's OK, I'm walking and moving like a normal human again now, but as the picture below conveys, I really wasn't the other week! I went from fine to invalid in 24hours! As someone who likes to understand things, I've been seriously left wanting...!
I have however developed a huge new appreciation for being able to walk and even conquer the stairs! :- )
I'm following a rehabilitation program and jiggling my 31mile challenge plans around, to ensure I get things done as promised.
I plan to do my 31mile challenge in one day as planned, but I'm now not sure I'll get it done in October. So I'm going to cover the mileage through local daily activity as well.
I swam a mile at the pool today and tomorrow I plan to start 2 mile daily walks. This means I'll definitely get the 31miles done in time, PLUS I'll get lots of movement to support my rehabilitation.
I'll keep you posted on how I get on.
My heart is truly warmed by all your kind words and donations. Thank you

Universe says no...

Saturday 4th Oct
Well, I can't have been more focused on getting my preparations for this weekends big challenge spot on, yet despite everything.... I have to postpone!! A really tough decision - I VERY rarely cancel anything! However, the mystery that is the body has thrown me a huge curveball + I'm currently sat at home with a hot water bottle on my leg nurturing some kind of nerve  or tendon injury. Your guess is as good as mine as to how it happened!
Yesterday I tried everything to get a speedy recovery, but to no avail. :-(  So today, all I can do is regroup and get myself healed fast.
My back-up date is last weekend in October, so that's where my sights are now set.
Thanks SO much for supporting me in this little adventure. Stick with me! I'll keep you posted + maybe... just maybe, icing on the cake, the weather will be PERFECT  last weekend of October! My silver lining.... '-p  Peace, C xxx

Storm Amy...

Friday 3rd Oct
How many times is too many times to check the weather forecast? I think that's how many times I've checked it! I've been prepping my kit and planning routes, rallying people to join me and trying to magically heal all the mysterious pains I seem to have developed in the last 2 weeks...!  I'm really excited to take on this challenge, but I won't go so far as to hurt myself - I always choose safety over injury. SO if the weather is too rough, or my mysterious pains become too serious, I have the last weekend of October as my back-up weekend. Tomorrow - several more forecast reviews pending - I decide. #So excited!!

Eek, only 10days to go!

Wednesday 24th Sep
I'm so excited to do my big 31 mile challenge day - I've planned a few different swim/sup, run and cycle routes.... The weather will be what makes the final decision for me. If its glorious weather AND perfectly calm seas, then I get to do my favourite option: a sea swim and run in the most beautiful part of Anglesey.... You never know what the weather will do these days....!  I plan to rest much of next week, only 2 tough training sessions, but this week I'm killin' it with lots of mileage and HIIT...! Had a reality check last week - So important to get my fueling right: I messed up....  didn't eat enough on my big cycle and was really achy.... SLOW recovery the next day meant I had to miss a training day! So this week, I'm doing my very best to get it all right so I can train hard + hit my 31mile goal in 10days time :-) Please drop a fiver in the virtual pot for Nature, for Greenpeace, for me. I'll feel even better doing the challenge if I've hit the £150 fundraising goal! Thanks. Peace all <3

My 2 favourite things combined!

Tuesday 12th Aug
Greenpeace and Outdoor adventures, are two of my very most favourite things, so it's nigh impossible for me to say no to their 31miles for nature challenge! So this October, I aim to complete 31miles over 1 or 2 days.... running, swimming, cycling... not sure exactly how yet!  I'm hoping to bring some people with me - emotionally, financially and literally!
